Menorca Arrivals

Menorca Airport is strategically positioned nearby the southern coastline of Menorca (Minorca) Island, within a close proximity to many of the most well visited areas of the island. Menorca is one of Spain’s famous Balearic Islands that are travelled by millions of tourists every year. Their perfect weather conditions and wonderful beaches provide an exceptional setting for lovely holidays. There are also many other historical and natural attractions to be explored on these four islands nearby the Spanish mainland. Menorca Airport arrivals are handled by a variety of airline companies, and passengers will also find several transport options from the airport in order to reach their next destination.

The main airline companies arriving at Menorca Airport from other Spanish airports include Spanair, Air Europa, Iberia and Vueling, while those from Palma de Mallorca, the largest Balearic Island, are Air Berlin and Iberia, operated by Air Nostrum. The majority of passengers at Menorca Airport are domestic, but many international visitors also arrive from United Kingdom airports, such as London-Stansted, London-Gatwick, Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham, as well as from various German and Italian locations, which include Berlin-Tegel, Munich, Frankfurt, Milan-Malpensa, Pisa, Rome-Fiumicino, Bologna and Verona. The airline companies handling these flights include Air Berlin, Air One, AlbaStar, Condor, Monarch, Neos, Thomas Cook Airlines and Thomson Airways.

Menorca Airport arrivals are handled from the ground floor of the passenger terminal building, and this area consists of a baggage reclaim area and a main arrivals lobby. There are six baggage reclaim carousels at the airport, of which two are double. Passengers will then proceed to the main arrivals area, where various facilities are found. The car hire companies of the airport are located here, and they include the international companies of Avis, Sixt, Europcar, Hertz, Easycar and Budget, while several local companies also provide car rental services, and they include Centauro, Goldcar and Record Rent A Car. By rented car is one of the most popular ways to explore the island of Menorca, as it features an excellent road network, and all the car hire companies offer quality vehicles at the most affordable rates possible.

Other facilities found in the arrivals area of Menorca Airport include various travel agencies and tour operators, a tourist information desk and screens that display the arrival times of the flights expected. Passengers can also use the luggage trolleys available. In general, other services at the airport include ATM machines, a pharmacy, a lost property office, first aid offices and numerous shops, bars and restaurants. Disabled passengers will find the terminal to be completely accessible, as there are adapted toilet areas and telephone booths, pavement ramps and elevators leading to the upper floors. Passengers who require further assistance with airport arrival proceedings can make the necessary arrangements with their airline company in advance of their departure. Staff at Menorca Airport will then be ready and waiting to meet their flight.

Passengers arriving on non-Schengen and third country flights will need to go directly to the passport control area before collecting their baggage. Countries that are considered as non-Schengen include the United Kingdom, Cyprus, Ireland and Romania, and third country flights are those originating in or with a destination to non-European Union member states that have not joined the Schengen agreement.

Passengers on Menorca Airport arrival flights will have a choice of transport options once they are ready to leave the airport. The Torres Alles buses travel to the nearby capital city of the island, known as Mahón, and from here, various buses operated by other companies are available to all other popular areas. Three bus routes travel from the airport’s bus stop found in front of the arrival area, one of which is a more direct route to the main Mahón bus station. The other two offer more stops within the city, and to areas on the outskirts of the city. The buses of Menorca Island provide a very valuable service, as there are no trains available on the island. Taxis are another option for transport, and the taxi rank at Menorca Airport is just outside the arrivals area as well.

Travellers in a rented car can easily drive to all areas of the island, as there is an excellent road network available. Ciutadella is a popular port city on the western coast of Menorca, and is accessed by the main ME-1 motorway that runs through the centre of the island. The ME-14 is the road leading directly to and from the airport, and is linked to the ME-1, as well as to the ME-12, which heads into the city of Mahón. Another prominent motorway on the island is the ME-7, also heading in a northerly direction, and provides access to Sant Ramon, Son Ladico, Son Parc, ses Salines and Fornells. Just nearby the airport, to the east and south, are the areas of Es Castell, Punto Prima, Las Lomas and Binibèquer, which are all popular destinations in Menorca. From the two major port cities of the island, Mahón and Ciutadella, many ferries are available to the Spanish mainland, and to the other Balearic Islands, of Palma de Mallorca and Ibiza.

All further information regarding transport and Menorca Airport arrivals can be obtained from the Aena service desks within the arrivals area of the airport.
